ABSTRACT
The general objective of this study is to evaluate the bacteriological quality of drilling water consumed at Shalom University in Bunia. It was carried out in the laboratory of the faculty of medicine of the said University. Thus, six samples were taken and then analyzed after aseptic sampling using the Most Probable Number (MPN) technique. The results of our investigation showed contamination of all samples by Total Coliforms. However, the absence of Escherichia coli was noted in the samples analyzed with the exception of one which indicates contamination of the order of 62 UFC/100 ml. These results were then compared to an analysis carried out on a sample taken from a household using the filter and chlorine as water treatment which showed a total absence of bacterial growth. In view of the results obtained, the establishment of an adequate control system, washing of the water storage and treatment system within this institution is essential to guarantee the safety of consumers.
